Abstract:
Estrogen has been known to be associated with the perception of sweetness, which can modify people’s intake of carbohydrates by affecting the perception of sweetness. However, the mechanism of how is the estrogen involved in the intestinal taste processing has not been fully understood. In this study,we have established the mouse model of estrogen deficiency,by the means of ovariectomy. The consequent modifications of the sweet taste transduction related signal expression have been analyzed on molecular and protein levels in intestine with qRT-PCR and Western blot technique. The results show that, with ovaries removed mice, estrogen levels in blood decreased markedly and the body weight increased significantly. Meanwhile, the expression of the duodenum T1R3 has been reduced, and those of T1R2 and TRPM5 have been inhibited to some extend as well. This study suggests that the estrogen plays an important role in mouse intestinal taste perception.
