Abstract:
Glutathione transferases(Glutathione S-transferases)(GSTs)are a classic proteins superfamily, which are widely distributed in microorganisms, plants, insects, fish and mammals. These enzymes play important roles in many biological processes, with dual functions of detoxification and scavenging peroxide. In recent years, researchers have conducted a lot of studies on GST in the areas of biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology. Here,we review these GST researches in order to provide a reference for further investigation on adaptation and evolution of mammalian GST genes.
