Abstract:
TheH igh Frequency Structure S imu la tor is used to sim ulate the enhanced transm ission through period ica lly perforated m eta l film s in them iddle- infrared reg ion. W e studied the circ le, e llipse, square and rectangular ho le array s and dem onstrated ( w ith d iffe rent shapes) that the transm ission properties are strong ly influenced by the ho le shape. For the e llipse and rectangu la r ho le arrays, the position o f the transm ission peak sh ifts tow ard longerw aveleng th as the aspect ra tio increases. By comparing the sh ift o f the transm ission peak among the abov e fou r arrays, w e found tha t shape resonace of rec tangu lar and e llipse ho les is larger than the others. The simu lated results indicate that localizedm odes p lay an im po rtant role in the enhanced transm ission. The optica l transm ission prope rties of the e llipse and rectangu lar ho le array s under d ifferent po larization o f the incident ligh t are also simu la ted.
